Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what residents ask most.

  • What are the district office hours?

Sunday to Thursday during official working hours, except public holidays. The district has no officially published hours, so call 03 4518000 to confirm them before you visit, or book an appointment on this site.

  • Which documents does my service need?

The Services & Permits page lists, for each service, the documents and fees the official local government services guide gives. Requirements can change, so confirm them at the technology centre when you apply.

  • How can I meet the head of the district?

Submit your request or complaint at the district’s technology centre. The Governor of Alexandria also holds public meetings for the western sector, which covers El Amreya I, El Amreya II and Borg El Arab, at the El Amreya I headquarters or in Borg El Arab; requests are filed beforehand at the technology centre.

  • Where do I apply for a plot at the Nasiriya cemeteries?

The governorate allots plots at the Nasiriya cemeteries at Habboun; you apply at the General Administration for Financial Affairs at the governorate headquarters, not at the district. Once allotted, the holder hands a copy of the allotment record to the El Amreya II cemeteries department within a week.

  • How do I track a request I made at the technology centre?

Look it up by its number on the Local Government Services portal (lgs.gov.eg), or ask at the centre. The “Track your request” page on this site shows only appointments and messages sent through the site.

  • Where do I report a pothole or a broken streetlight?

On the Contact page, choose the “Report an issue” subject, or call the national government complaints line, 16528. Keep the reference number shown after sending to follow it up.

  • Is the district responsible for water and electricity?

Water, drainage and electricity networks are run by separate utility companies. The district receives reports and refers them on; for electricity emergencies call 121 and for gas 129.
